Announcing 2012 FSHN Alumni Impact Award Recipients

FSHN is pleased to announce the winners of the 2012 FSHN Alumni Impact Award. Award winners are department alumni who have excelled and made an impact in their professions or in their community. Awards will be given to Linda Fullmer (00, BS Food Science) and Lori Roth-Yousey (83, BS Dietetics) during Homecoming 2012.

All alumni are invited to departmental Homecoming activities October 26-27. Activities will include events at the Nutrition and Wellness Research Center, Center for Crops Utilization Research, Sensory Unit, and the Midwest Grape and Wine Industry Institute. Guests are also invited to attend to a banquet recognizing the award winners. Finally, everyone is invited to tailgate and attend the Homecoming game (limited tickets available). Linda Fullmer has over 20 years of commercial and related-technical experience. Shortly after graduation, Fullmer began her employment with Kemin Industries as a Project Manager/Food Application Specialist and quickly rose through the ranks to Senior Vice President. As Vice President, she successfully orchestrated a turn-around of declining sales for a key ingredient; and designed, developed and implemented an application research division within the technical services and commercial department. This department has been responsible with successful execution of new ingredient launch programs.

Linda Fullmer received her BS degree in 2000. She also has a degree in Culinary Arts (93). In 2005 she was recognized with the WW Presidents’ Award, Technical Services Award for Outstanding Whitepaper. Fullmer holds two patents, has published in both peer-reviewed and trade journals, remains active in IFT, and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi.

Lori Roth-Yousey is dedicated to advancing the nutrition and dietetics professions through research and technology. Yousey’s work experiences have included clinical dietetics, nutrition education, curriculum development and program implementation in the community. She was instrumental as a member of a pioneer group beginning Evidence Based Analysis to define best dietetics practice on a national level. She is a co-author for chapters in nationally-recognized textbooks as well as presented at numerous national dietetic conferences and state workshops.

Lori Roth-Yousey received her BS degree (with distinction) in the Coordinated Undergraduate Program in General Dietetics in 1983 and has since gone on to earn her MPH and Ph.D. in Nutrition, both from the University of Minnesota. She currently works as a research, ethics, and nutrition private consultant.
