"I joined the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department in Spring 2002, and got my Master's degree in Food Science and Technology in 2004. I am currently in a Ph.D program in Food Science and Technology."

What she likes as a graduate student in Food Science:
"I like the dynamic nature of research; my work is never routine, because after we solve one question usually we have several successive questions."

During the past five years I developed a cheese-like product from soybean oil and protein; determined the amount of conjugated linoleic acid in pasteurized bovine milk; looked for a lipoxygenase-like enzyme in soybeans; evaluated the flavor problem of a dry milk powder supplemented with palm oil; encapsulated fish and flax oil in the Cryptococcus curvatus and evaluated its protecting effect when fed to ruminant animals."

"I have gained a lot of experience (instrumental, analytical, sensory evaluation, teaching, presenting papers at scientific meetings, and grant writing) during a program which is necessary for future job. A friendly environment in the department is very important to me. It is nice to be a graduate student because you always can discuss your problem with professors and get wise and helpful advice about how to solve your puzzle. And the most pleasant aspect of research is the satisfaction of having solved your problem and added your small stone to the Pyramid of Human Knowledge."
