"I didn't know what I wanted to do at Iowa State. I had five majors before settling on Consumer Food Science.

"While taking HRIM 380 (Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management), I discovered I liked cooking because I could be both creative and scientific at the same time. It's nice to be able to use both sides of your brain."

Advice for Future Students
"If you're unsure of what you want to do, take a variety of classes. Try to choose classes that will work with most degree programs."

Kim's graduate student project is incorporating resistant starch in corn into Latin American food products.
