AdmissionStudents must apply to the Iowa State University Graduate College using the electronic application form. The department requests additional materials to complete an application packet. Students initially approved for admission to our program must secure an assistantship offer from one of our faculty before being officially admitted to our program. While applications are accepted year round, to be considered for a research assistantship, fellowship, and scholarships, all application materials must be received by January 15. Students wishing to be considered for a research assistantship beginning in fall semesters must have materials submitted by January 15.
Scholarships are also available on a competitive basis from FSHN, the Colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Human Sciences, and other sources. Letter of recommendation process: Use the online letter of recommendation process on the Iowa State University Graduate College application. When you include your recommenders’ names and e-mail addresses on the application form, they will be sent instructions on how to submit their letter electronically. If recommenders prefer to submit a hard copy, they may download and complete the Letter of Recommendation form and submit it directly to our department. International studentsFood Science and Technology MajorsIn order to be considered for admission to our department, you must first submit a pre-application form (no fees are required with this form). The pre-application is to determine whether minimum requirements for admission have been met. If these minimum requirements have been met, a formal application from the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition will be sent. Receiving formal application materials does not imply, suggest, or guarantee admission to our graduate program. Incomplete pre-applications will not be considered for review. All scores must be listed on applications; applications are considered incomplete without them. |
