Thematic Network ISEKI_Mundus

Stephanie Jung is participating in the Thematic Network ISEKI_Mundus

The thematic network ISEKI_MUNDUS - Integrating Safety and Environment Knowledge In World Food Studies (ref. 136263-EM-1-2007-1-PT-ERA MUNDUS- EM4EATN) was recently approved and will run from 1st November 2007 till 30 September 2008.
The main objective of the ISEKI_MUNDUS project is to foster the internationalization and enhance the quality of the European higher education Food Studies, by extending the work undergoing through the Erasmus Thematic Network ISEKI_Food 2 (ref. 226032-CP-1-2005-1-PT-ERASMUS-TN; http://www.esb.ucp.pt/iseki/) to other countries, and developing new activities towards the promotion of good communication and understanding between European countries and the rest of the world.

More specific objectives are:

  1. Development of a Student Platform for promoting international mobility in the field
    of higher education Food Studies;
  2. Creation of an international Virtual Community of experts in food studies, with emphasis on safety and environment topics;
  3. Improvement of international quality assurance systems in Food Studies;
  4. International Tuning of curricula in Food Studies,
  5. Development of teaching materials in the field of Food Studies.

Further to these objectives, several horizontal activities are also planned:

    1. Work towards the sustainability of the extended international network;
    2. Stimulate the development of further related projects;
    3. Involvement of all partners on the activities undergoing in the ISEKI_Food 2 TN.

The achievements of this project are mainly directed to the academic world.
This project is coordinated by the ISEKI_Food 2 TN (with 113 partners, from 28 European countries) and includes a total of 35 institutions, from 23 third countries, coming from 5 different continents.

The main expected outputs of this project are: web platforms, web databases, critical analysis reports, guides, teaching materials, a virtual community, and a final conclusion congress, related to the working subjects above described.
