Success
in student learning, performance and achievement is evidenced through
national student recognition:
- A team
of food science students from Iowa State University won the Institute
of Food Technologists Student Association (IFTSA) North Central regional
College Bowl competition held at Kansas State University on May 5,
2003. Students advanced to the IFTSA national Food Science College
Bowl competition held during the annual meeting of the Institute of
Food Technologists on July 14, 2003. Iowa

- A team
of food science students from Iowa State University won the NASA Food
Technology Commercial Space Center product development competition
in April 2002. Students created EZ crust, a pizza crust made from
okara, and earned trips to the Institute of Food Technologists annual
meeting and food expo in June 2002 and the Johnson Space Center in

- Iowa
State University students created the world’s largest cereal
treat in April 2001. Student efforts were led by Alyssa Armbrecht,
undergraduate student in food science and chemical engineering, and
were recognized by the Guinness World Records officials. Iowa

- Food
science students from Iowa State University hosted the North Central
regional IFTSA College Bowl competition in March 2001. The Iowa State
University team of food science students won the regional College
Bowl competition and advanced to the national competition held in
New Orleans at the end of June where they placed third. Iowa

Academic
excellence is evidenced through student poster sessions.
FSHN students presented their Honors projects on Wednesday, April 28,
2004, in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union at the Spring 2004 Honors
Projects Poster Presentation. Presentations included:
