Indirect
Measures of Learner Outcome Achievement
1. In several
courses, students are asked to reflect upon their learning and/or report
their degree of self-confidence in achieving learning goals of that
course.
2. As part
of their final assessments of FSHN courses and instructors, students
evaluate how well course learning goals were met.
3. In FSHN
480, the senior seminar class, all FSHN seniors complete a survey in
which they reflect on how well they have achieved department learning
goals.
4. One year
and five years after graduation, alumni are asked to reflect on how
well their curriculum in FSHN has prepared them for their profession,
and how they compare themselves to other professionals with similar
degrees.
5. The department
chair conducts exit interviews with graduating seniors to discuss their
overall impressions of the department and the curriculum in which they
are graduating, and to obtain their recommendations for improvements.
6. The FSHN department is a participant in eDoc, a cross-disciplinary
electronic portfolio project of selected departments in the College
of Agriculture, College of Business, College of Design, College of Education,
and College of Family and Consumer Sciences, along with Academic Information
Technologies and the Instructional Technology Center. This is a campus-wide
initiative to design, develop, test, and implement electronic portfolios
in which students can document and reflect on their achievements and
experiences.
