> Syllabi Stating Learner Outcomes
Our syllabi are listed on the College of
Family and Consumer Sciences ClassWeb, which is updated each semester.
All of our instructors have been asked to list course outcomes, and
how these outcomes are assessed, on the syllabi for their courses. Current
ClassWeb postings of FSHN course syllabi can be accessed.
The department has completed a curriculum
map illustrating which outcomes are accomplished in each course. A 0-3
scale is used, with 0 = “don’t do this at all” and 3 = “this is a major
focus of the course”. The curriculum map was discussed at a recent faculty
retreat and has been reviewed by the FSHN Outcomes Assessment and Curriculum
Committees. The curriculum map has been used to develop changes in courses
and curriculum to meet department outcomes.
The form used by faculty to report their
focus on department outcomes is also discussed in the section on
Direct and Indirect Measure.
