RIING Workshop |

| On the 12th of August 2003, a workshop was held at Miklin Hotel in Ghana to launch the RIING project. It was an opportunity to bring together partners of the project and to share ideas as well as create a collaborative environment. Furthermore, the workshop helped participants to identify critical areas of need for action.
RIING Activities Photo Gallery The keynote address of the workshop was given by Mr. Samuel Owusu-Agyei, Chief Director, Ministry of Health on behalf of the Minister of Health. Professor G.S. Ayernor, the head of Department of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Ghana, was the chairperson for the occasion. Other dignitaries at the seminar were Professor E. Ofori-Sarpong, the pro-vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, and Mrs. Rosanna Agble, head of the Nutrition Unit of the Ghana Health Service as well as Mrs Veronica Gomez, representing the head of the Reproductive and Child Health Unit of the Ghana Health Service. The workshop was attended by RIING investigators from Iowa State University, Emory University, University of Connecticut, University of Ghana, and the Noguchi Memorial Centre for Medical Research in Ghana. Other participants of the workshop were from the Ghana Health Service, staff from Atua and St. Martins Hospitals, Manya Krobo District Health Administration, and Faculty of the Department of Nutrition and Food Science of the University of Ghana. There was also representation from the queen mothers association in Manya Krobo, the LINKAGES project, and other institutions. |
