Dietetics
- The undergraduate didactic program in dietetics is approved by
the American Dietetic Association. Graduates are eligible to apply
for admission to dietetic internships/supervised practice programs.
Upon successful completion of the experience program, graduates
are eligible to take the national examination to become a Registered
Dietitian.
Culinary Science
- Culinary Science is where food science meets food art. If you are looking for a career in food product development where both food science knowledge as well as culinary creativity is essential this is the program for you.
Food Science
- Food science and technology
This curriculum is approved by the Institute of Food Technologists.
It is designed for students who wish to go to graduate or professional
school or who are biotechnology scholars. Preveterinary preparation
is available.
- Food science and industry
This curriculum is approved by the Institute of Food Technologists,
and the program combines food science and business courses to prepare
students for the sales/management part of the food industry.
- Consumer food science
This curriculum which emphasizes the relationship between food science,
food preparation and consumers' concerns about nutritional quality;
designed for students interested in test kitchen positions, food product
formulation and recipe development, food promotion, and consumer services.
Nutritional Science
- Graduates of this degree program have a strong basic science education
along with human nutrition expertise, which enables them to work in
nutrition research laboratories, pursue graduate study in nutrition
or related areas, and/or pursue health professional school admission.
This curriculum can serve as a program for nutritional graduate study
or as a pre-health professional program
such as medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, veterinary medicine, physical
therapy, occupational therapy, optometry, opthamology, physician assistant,
podiatry, optometry, nurse practitioner. Students pursuing a preprofessional
program of study are encouraged to contact the admissions counselor
at the university where they plan to complete their practice degree
to determine specific course requirements.
